Help! Aggressive Kneading Habits!

LazCat Jul 08, 2003 03:34 PM

My older cat (I have 2) who is about 3 years old has suddenly started exhibiting a strange new behavior. We got a new cat bed for him 3 mos. ago and over the last couple of months he's been climbing into it many times during the day and kneading into it with all 4 legs aggressively while biting on the side of the cat bed looking quite angry..if anyone goes near him he lets out a loud whine and when my other cat approaches, he nips at him. The Vet says this is territorial behavior but I've never seen any other cat do this. Has anyone else experienced this with their cats? Does it get better over time? Should I be worried?

Thanks!

Let's see....what a weirdo! Meant affectionately, of course.

I guess if you want to be safest and make sure his extreme love/hate feelings for the new bed don't get directed at anyone else, human or feline, then you might want to take the bed up. Just to be cautious.

LOL. You just brought back memories of one of my cats. When we first rescued him, he started doing that to one of the other cats beds. I thought it was cute, actually. I never really thought much about it and Harley eventually stopped doing it.
