Cat is unusually territorial for a female.

sigma Sep 26, 2003 12:52 PM

heya all. my cat's name is patsy, and shes a beautiful cat.

but... i think shes having hormone problems, since shes very very violent around other cats. the other night i was CG'ing some artwork, and all of a sudden i hear this LOUD racket outside. sounded like just loud thumps. i went outside to check out what the hell that was (being very freaked out, since i had just finished playing Silent Hill3)

and she had a larger tabby cornered on the roof, in an area that would surely kill the cat if it were to jump to escape.

the odd thing though... is my cat seems to get a perverse pleasure from tormenting tabbies... but this night... she went too far... while the tabby was cornered, i tried to scare it off... which didnt do much good... the result? entrails all over the place.. Patsy (with VERY sharp claws) killed the cat! i dont know what to do with her... shes normally very sweet and loving... but she likes to fight.. ive tried so many things to stop her from getting too rough with me, (shaking a can with coins DIDNT work X( it just made her angry)

she also sprays exactly like a male... anyone know any tips on curbing her evil-streak?

Patsy needs to be spayed ASAP if she is not already. Also keeping her indoors would help quite a bit.

I had a very aggressive female once - she was loving towards me but hated other animals with a passion and would turn on me if she saw one. This is re-directed aggression. This can be highly dangerous for any human who is in the path.

Since Patsy has killed another cat, you really should consider medication also. There are forms or antianxiety meds that can really help. Take Patsy to a vet and discuss her aggression and possible solutions. An animal behaviorist might help in this area.

I don't want to alarm you, but cats rarely kill one of their own kind. This is a real red flag. I have read accounts of where cats can turn on their humans and literally have to be killed on the spot because they are so dangerous that there is no other recourse. If you can stop this behavior now you are better off.

Good luck!

yes she is spayed, but the strange thing is, she is completely content with other cats, even un-nuetered males... but she just gets super-violent with any tabby..

hahaha maybe shes just a borderline feline racist XD

ive even seen her side-by-side with oppossums, and she just calmly sits right next to them....

ive taken her to the vet many many times.. i just dont know what the hell her problem is with tabbies... please excuse my french =

i dont have to worry about her wandering too far, since her turf is just around my house.. i just dont know how to stop her from killing tabbies... im just worried she might kill someone elses cat..
