HELP! Male cat trying to mate with another male cat!!!

kittybaby_04 Apr 02, 2004 08:38 PM

My husband and i just got a new male cat, not fixed, about 11 months old and he keeps trying to mate with my almost 6 month old male kitten, who will be getting fixed the 12th of april. Why is he doing this??? I also have a 2 1/2-3 year old female cat who was in heat about 1 1/2 weeks ago and he mated with her but he keeps trying to do it now to both of them just like he did when she was in heat.......Why does he do this?????

You probably should have them all fixed, quickly. Your male can still smell the heat of the female and is going crazy. I would recommend having all three fixed as soon as possible. If you can't get them all fixed on the 12. I would recommend either the female or the 11 month old. I would worry that the 11 month old would start spraying.

Because he is not fixed, I think the male is doing this instinctively as a sexual act rather than as a dominant act. Probably the younger male is not mature enough yet to smell like a boy!

I would definitely get this guy neutered ASAP! Also if he has mated with your female, then she is more than likely pregnant.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!

Gonzo, my 25 pounder used to do it to Stumpy my normal sized cat, making him his ummmm, prison girly. I bought another male cat and now he stopped the behavior. Gonzo was just trying to show off how manly he was. They were fixed at a young age. I have comfort zone plug ins and rescue remedy in their water now as well. All is calm and they spend their days kissing and grooming each other now.

Well i'm getting the younger one done first because i made the appointment for him before we got the older male cat.The older one is getting done in May....I'll make the appointment for him this month sometime....so that way i don't have to be anywhere else the day that i get him fixed. I made the appointment for my younger male cat about a week before we got the older one so i'm bringing him in first........Well thanx for the advice i'll see if it works after they are both fixed....
