My cats favorite foods....BABY CORN, PIZZA CRUST, PANCAKES

purebornegoist Jun 17, 2004 11:41 AM

one day i was sitting on the couch eating a can of baby corn, he started sniffing the can, reached his head into it, he grabed one baby corn and ran off with it. i thought he was just going to play with it. but he ate it and was soon trying to get another. he ate half the can. truth be told, its not the only odd food he likes, he's developed a love for cantalope, watermellon, spinich, chocolate chip pancakes (i didnt give it to him he fished it out of the trash), and pizza crust.

i'd like to know if anyone else has a cat that eats these type of foods. Is there a reason for his weird eating habbits? I know not to give him chocolate, but should i stop letting him eat the other stuff, or can i let him eat it every once in a wile?

Although these foods are not terrific for cats, you could probably get away with giving some human food treats in a very sparing way!

Even though milk is not good for cats, my cat Daisy went bananas over it. We would always give her the remains of the milk from our cereal and also let her lick out the bowls after we'd eaten ice cream. She lived to be an old lady of 18!

As you know chocolate is not good for cats - also onions can be poisonous so don't let her have those! Watch the pizza! Otherwise the key word for cats being treated with human food is "sparingly!"

The cat I had growing up would eat almost ANYTHING. If a bit of food dropped to the floor, he would race the dog to try and get to it first!

He's eaten popcorn, cereal, any kind of meat (obviously)... he'd try and steal anything we were eating if we were sitting on the couch. I know it wasn't all that healthy for him, but it was cute to watch him stick his paw in my dry cereal and pull out a few pieces and shove them in his mouth.

We also let him lick our ice cream bowls and yogourt cups once in a while. He lived to be almost 17 years old.

I imagine if you give your cat people food sparingly, he'll be ok.

Let's see... Myrtle loves all sorts of people food, any kind of meat, obviously, she also likes cooked or raw (not dry) pasta. She'll drink the broth from the kids chicken noodle soup and pear juice. I also catch her drinking milk from the cereal bowls, but her favorite human food is tomatoes or any thing with tomato sauce. She loves marinara and lettuce.
Lucy used to eat pinapple chunks.

Crash thinks she is a dog. She sits and begs for food. My mom gives her a piece of cheese or meat every once in a while. The rest of the cats are not aloud to have human food. We don't need five begging cats. When Crash was a kitten she stole steak right off my plate and ran with it across the table. I had gone to let the dogs outside so they would stop begging. I was so mad I cut the piece she bit and ate it. I would never do that now (GROSS).
I am seriously thinking about starting that RAW diet as soon as I get my own place. Just worried that Gabby and Moxie will start begging like Crash.

My very first cat Samantha was a vegetarian. She loved corn, peas, squash, melon, and would only eat grain-based cat food. She lived 13 years, so it couldn't have been that bad.

One Thanksgiving, my mom started screaming hysterically at my brother and I, and we couldn't understand her, so we didn't even know why we were in trouble. She yelled that we were eating her pumpkin pies, and we swore we didn't, so she made us get the yardstick to spank both of us for messing up her pies and lying about it. As she was about to spank us, Samantha jumped on the counter behind her and started eating out of one of the pies. We pointed at her, and my mom turned around and all the color drained out of her face. She had to apologize profusely, and after that kept all vegetable dishes in the fridge...
