My cat uses my hand as a catnip toy!!!

foryouonly Jul 18, 2004 08:27 PM

I have a 2 year old female and sometimes when I pet her, she'll dig her claws into my hand, bite it and uses her two hind legs to scratch my arm as well. She does the same thing to her catnip toys as well. She can be an aggressive cat if you pet her the wrong way and since I know the spots where she doesn't like to be petted, I stay clear away from petting her there as much as possible. And yet I even tried sprinkling some catnip on my hand but all she does is either nibble on it or simply rub up against it. Is this normal?

As soon as your cat bites your hand in this manner you need to withdraw it and walk away. She is learning to be agressive to you and putting catnip on your hand will only make the problem worse.

Get her a good kitty wand with feathers and when she agresses on you redirect her to play with that.
