Cokie has a strange fetish. She likes her head and ears to be scratched like any normal cat, but what she really loves....is her butt to be smacked.I know some cats like their back where their tale is to be scratched or petted, but coki likes major patting action. She wants us to pretend her lower back is a pair of bongos. When we do this she lifts her butt high up in the air and hugs our lap digging her head into our legs and meowing euphorically. Sometimes we worry that we are hurting her back when we do this, but sometimes it's all she wants. She'll come up to us when we are lying down and lie down with her tail facing us, and if we even just graze our finger on her lower back she lifts her butt up high again as if giving us the message that she wants more. And dare i say it? I think it may be sexual. So fellow cat lovers, what do you think?

Cats do develop "elevator butt" when they are scratched on the rear, but I haven't heard of being patted. I guess it just plain feels good or she'd be complaining! As long as you are not too rough it should be OK. I think it is a sexual thing too, even in cats who have been spayed or neutered.
