cap nip causes aggressivness in my cat

seter16 Aug 04, 2004 09:03 PM

From everything I have read, cat nip is supposed to "relax" a cat and make he/she playfull. Well it seems to have an opposite effect on my cat. Once he gets the cat nip, he immediatly starts to growl and hiss, he will not let you near him or the cat nip ball, but as soon as you take it away, he is back to normal, its so strange. Has anyone else had this problem??
Thanks...

You're explaining my cat too! She acts the total opposite of how a normal cat would. If you read my other posts, maybe you'll find that your cat sounds a little like my cat. If that turns out to be true, you've got problems.

My cats also get more aggressive when they have some catnip, only they're aggressive toward each other. They tend to fight over the catnip because one cat thinks the other cat is stealing her "stash." I have to supervise them and make sure that each cat gets a fair amount. Catnip affects cats in different ways. A former cat of mine was hardly affected at all by catnip.

Yeah Evil Patches (the calico) turns agressive with catnip to.
