Is it true that when cats shed, they miss their owner?

foryouonly Aug 09, 2004 10:14 PM

I was gone on vacation for two weeks and when I had come home I had found at least a dozen handfulls of cat hair on my couch, my carpet, my bed. Everywhere. I had one of those hair rollers which I think is easier than vacuuming it up so I had no problem with that. I had told my mom about it and she told me she read somewhere that when they shed they miss their owners and they get stressed a lot or something. I just want to know if this is true.

Cats may shed a bit more when they are stressed or anxious, but probably the reason you are finding so much cat hair is because you aren't around to pet them and the fur is sort of piling up. Cats are known to "overgroom" sometimes when upset and this may also be a trigger for the extra hair.
