Updates on my cat and the puppy

animal_lover Aug 17, 2004 06:31 AM

I've been gone for two weeks, without internet, but I'm back now. Well, things have gotten better between the cat and our puppy. It has gotten so much better in fact, that Kitty will let the dog sit about two feet away from her, as long as she doesn't move or look at her. I think that things are going to get better over time. I am still trying to get an appointment for the vet. They are always busy, being that they are the only vets within an hour of driving.
The dog is starting to depend on the cat, well, not really. Our dog will not eat her dog food, but will try to steal our human food. She has also started doing something else. I put kitty's plate down on the floor and she starts eating. Once she is down and turns her back on the food, the dog will run up and eat the leftovers. Sometimes she even tries to eat along with kitty, but ends up being yelled at (mostly by me), to get away or get scratched. Well, this is getting long, so i'll write again soon.

Things are much better now, like I said. My mom has almost stopped complaining entirely. In reply to that last email, I want to study Veterinary Medicine. I want to become a Veterinary Technician. I really love animals, and I see now how stupid I was about puttting the cat to sleep, when their was nothing wrong with her at all.
I have starting feeding the cat in the basement, because for some reason, the dog will not go down there. Well, I'll answer back next week. Thanks for everything.

Glad to hear that the cat and dog seem to be getting along.

I suggest you see if you can feed the cat on a higher surface so the dog doesn't eat catfood. I'm not sure if that is good for them or not.

Anyhow my dog has a liver condition and is on a special diet, so I HAVE to keep the cat's food out of her reach. The cat jumps up on the kitchen table and gets fed there. Not the best, but it works.
