Unusually friendly cat introduction.....

ishy Oct 13, 2004 08:54 PM

I just wanted to post this because I know some of you would find it funny. If any of you know much about Maine Coons, they tend to be very friendly to other cats and animals. So I took Sage, my silver tabby Maine, to meet my old roommates Maine mix Zeke. My old roommates live a few buildings down, so I walked Sage there on her leash. When the door opened, Sage just walked straight in like she had lived there for years. Zeke came straight up to her and they touched noses. Then Sage started to walk around and explore. She seemed completely fine with Zeke.

Zeke however, seemed to turn into a hormonal male...well, except without the hormones. He followed her everywhere and acted like she was the most beautiful cat he had ever seen. Sage seemed ok with him at first, but he made himself a royal pain in the literal rear. So she started to ignore him. At one point she tried to walk away, he reached out his paw, hooked it around her back leg, and tried to drag her back. She turned around and bopped him smartly on the head, and then walked off. He continued to stalk her until we left.

I've always suspected that CV has some Maine Coon in him despite the Siamese wannabe coloring. He is very afraid of people and hides under the bed when they come over, but when we first brought the dog home he followed her all around the house staring at her. It was hysterical. He still doesn't get too close to her, but certainly shows no overt hostility. (Although he has peed on her bed!)

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!

CV, Crash told me to tell you not to pee on the dog's bed. It isn't nice! And they might start sleeping in yours!
