Cat acting abnormal

Sexsi Feb 06, 2005 04:56 PM

I moved about a month ago and my 8 year old male cat has been acting very weird. Usually he's very affectionate towards my fiancee and me. But since we moved he is affectionate with everyone, even with my two children aged 1yr and 3yr.(which before he would not go near) And he seens to cry alot more. Is there anything that i can do?

You have to understand that you have replaced your cat's territory and he/she feels strange and out of place. He/she sounds to be acting needy and wanting to feel safe and loved. It can take up to a year after moving for a cat to feel comfortable in the new home. Just give him/her lots of attention, love and support and he/she should be OK. If something medical appears to be happening, a vet ck would help.

Give it a few more weeks and see how the cat does. Since he is being MORE affectionate this is usually not a bad sign, since cats who are medically ill usually shun human company! He is probably reacting to the change in territory and luckily for you is just trying to bond further with his humans.
