strange tom cat behavior- biting, howling

kameeelia Mar 20, 2005 01:55 PM

I have a formerly stray tom cat that was neutered a little under a year ago. whenever he is touched pn hisback near the base of his tail he begins biting at anything nearby, howling, and having muscle spasms. we have likened this behavior to a male cat when he is mating, but as he is fixed we do not know what the cause of this strange behavior might be. does anyone know?

This is strange. It almost sounds like some sort of neurological thing. Perhaps you shoudl arrange a vet check just to be sure there's nothing wrong and try to avoid touching him on his sensitive spot until he's been checked out.
