drinking habits

Recently my cat insists on drinking water from the faucet in the bathtub and won't touch the water in her bowl. I thought maybe there was a difference in the water so I filled her bowl up with water from the tub and she did drink it once but then never touched her bowl again. I'm concerned because we are moving to a new house soon and it doesn't have a bathtub for her and I'm afraid she won't drink the water from her bowl. And I wouldn't want her drink water from outside because it'll probably be distilled and I don't want her to get sick. I feed her dry food so I thought I might have to soak her food but we don't feed her on a schedule and I don't think it would a good idea to leave soaked food hanging around all day. Is there anything I can do to correct this behavior?

For some reason, some cats decide on this and it is very hard to convince them otherwise. My cat recently has figured out how to turn my bathroom faucet on and drinks from that instead of her water bowl. When you move, though, it actually might be easier to break her of this habit, because that familiar faucet won't be there anymore. She might begin to drink from her bowl again. For the first few days of your move, keep her in a bedroom or room w/o a faucet, both to adjust to the new house, and to break her of her habit.

Cats prefer running water. My three cats developed this habit after my hubby left the tub faucet dripping and now they hardly even drink from the drinking fountain I bought them years ago! If your new plae doesn't have a tub, your cat will eventually go back to the bowl or invest $30 in a drinking fountain fro cats available online or at your local pet store. Give the cat's a choice and they'll take the one least convenient for you! HaHa!

I would also suggest a kitty drinking fountain! You might try putting cool water into a low fat glass or mug. Cats often like "tall" water because they can better orient themselves to the depth of the container. My cat drinks only from a glass and I do indulge him in this habit because at least he is drinking!
