Rolling in dirt...

Crookshanks1990 Apr 16, 2005 09:07 AM

as soon as my cat, Yobo (nickname for Yorick Bob, actually, technically, its my sister's cat, but thats a different story), gets outside (she's fixed and is an outdoor/indoor cat), she rolls and plays around in the dirt.

and then i let her in through my window at night after she does this and cruises the neighborhood (or so i would expect) and she sleeps in my bed, but i allow it because i like the smell of her fur when she comes back inside.

what does this mean and should i let her to continue this?

I don't think you will be able to stop her from rolling in the dirt. It's a natural instinct which both removes loose hairs and marks territory.

If her fur smells good to you when she comes back, then she has probably cleaned herself up pretty well and if it doesn't bother you then it's OK.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!

Both of our boy cats roll in the dirt. But they don't clean themselves off before they come in. I either have to brush them, or Boots sister cleans him. Tucker is just always dirty. Until after he comes in and washes himself. I don't know way he can't wash outside LOL.
