Are Females More Vocal Than Males?

lkitsch Jul 30, 2005 06:55 PM

It seems to be the case with my crew. Is that generally true?

It seems to be opposite in my case. I have 3 females and one male. It's the male who walks around, meowing, all of the time. Maybe it's because he's a himalayan which is part siamese and siamese are very vocal, so I've heard.

I think that it might be more breed related than sex related.

Meow!! Meow!! Meow!! Meow!!

How wonderful to do nothing and then rest afterwards. Meow!

my male and one of my females are very vocal and my other female is quiet as a church mouse! haha. They are domestic cats.

I think they are just like kids, I think every cat is different, no matter what breed they are (although I have heard certain breeds are more vocal than others definitely).

Hope that helps!

Mine are "chatterers". Now my female has a more prounced voice than the male. His chatter is much higher pitched and more "kitten-like" (they are a little over a year old.) He's only noticeably more vocal at feeding time... it figures... he weighs 5 lbs MORE than her, too!
