Feeding a hatchling

diInIN Oct 13, 2003 08:54 PM

Hi guys. I'm new here, but not new to leopards.

I raised a hatchling once before on crx until a juvi, then switched to mealies, at which time she started growing much quicker and then decided she no longer liked crx. (Gee, what a disappointment...)

I have a new baby as of today, and was wondering if I could raise it on mealies from the beginning. I have (now) 8 leopards and one beardie here, and haven't done crx in awhile. I'd just as soon NOT. If I get the small mealies, would it be able to digest them? My other leopards have never had any problems, but I know with beardie babies, they can die on mealies because of the chitin.

I could even pick out the white/just shed mealies if necessary.

Gutloaded, half-grown mealies are fine for hatchlings. The whiter/lighter ones are best (recently shed).
