I Don't Get It?!?

My cat is almost 14 years old and up until now she's been pretty docile and just chillin. She only seems to like myself and my sister for some reason and she loves to cuddle. But over the past couple of weeks her behaviour has gone from quiet and sleepy to a little crazy. Whenever my sister goes into the bathroom for a bath or a shower she totally freaks out. She mews and cries like crazy and throws herself up against the bathroom door. She will even go as far as trying to jump in the tub with her if she can manage to get into the bathroom. She's only done this to me once. She also has been crying when we pick her up. I'm thinking its because she may have arthritis and maybe the way she is being held makes her uncomfortable. Her other strange behaviour, and she has always had this is whenever I cough or sneeze, she will freak out and storm out of my room mewing... kinda like I've ticked her off. Any advice anyone has would be great, especially about the water/bathroom behaviour. Thanks!!

Very often elderly cats can become confused and disoriented - however I am wondering if your cat isn't in the beginning stages of renal failure and wants to get at the water in the shower due to chronic dehydration.

Any behavior change such as you describe could be the result of an underlying medical problem, and you really should get the cat to the vet for further evaluation.

Best wishes to you and your cat!
