Cats and litter boxes

teganslaw Feb 18, 2006 06:19 PM

My cat Quentin has gotten in the habit of rolling around in the litter box after I've scooped and cleaned it out. It's something he just started and I wonder if anyone would know the reason for it.
Also,my other cat Star sometimes lays in the middle of her litter box with her paws under. She has other places she could lay, so the litter box seems an unusual place in which to rest. I'm curious if anyone else's cats do the same thing.
I've had cats all my life and still don't understand everything about them. LOL.

More than likely they have decided to make the litterbox a new "resting" territory, however, keep a close eye on both of them. Sometimes cats will hang around the litterbox because they have a urinary infection/intestinal problem and feel the need to be close by in order to quickly go. Since it's both cats doing this, I have a gut feeling it's just a quirky thing they are going through.
