My cat's recent behavior

teganslaw May 02, 2006 04:44 PM

Yesterday my cat Quentin went to the vet to have his teeth cleaned. We took him in the morning and picked him up that afternoon. Quentin did fine, but was a little groggy from the effects of the anesthesia. I had expected that my other cat, Star, would be upset because of Quentin's vet smell. Star did fine; it was Quentin who was the aggressive one. He hissed and growled whenever he saw her, even growled at me a couple times. Star seemed confused at Quentin's behavior. She didn't know what to make of this strange cat.
Everything is back to normal today, but I was wondering if anyone else had this happen with their cats? Where the cat who went to the vet is the aggressor instead of the other way around. I realize that Quentin didn't feel well, but I still thought it was strange he would be like this instead of Star. After all, Quentin would have had the strange scent. Any thoughts on this?
Ellen

Hi Ellen,

I think the key here is that Quentin was still feeling the effects of his anesthesia and/or pre-anesthetic drugs. He didn't understand why he was feeling so strange or what had happened to him so he was upset. I believe that he took this out on Star.

The main thing is that Quentin was back to normal this morning!
