cat makes strange sound

annie2715 Oct 14, 2006 10:50 AM

My eleven year old cat, always between 11 P.M. and 1 A.M., carry around a sock or a wristband. Then she makes a weird, really loud noise and drops it. Then she acts completely normal. Does this have something to do with the fact that one of our other cats (who was practically her mom) died a few months ago? Please help!

This may indeed be a way your cat is coping with the loss of a close feline companion. Lots of kitties find a "lovie" like a sock to carry around.

However, given your cat's age, it might be a wise idea to schedule a vet check to be sure there is no underlying medical cause. Sometimes when a cat's behavior pattern changes it means the cat isn't feeling well.

Good luck!
