Hoping its not Serious

DisAdEv Aug 08, 2007 11:15 PM

Tonight my best friend noticed that my cat was trembling. I wondered at first if he was still a bit shaken when the lady who brought my best friend had come into the house. He seemed calm at the time since he's become more tolerant though still wary of guests.

Then I began to search on the internet when the trembling seemed more aparent. I live in an apartment and they sprayed for roaches more frequeuntly than they used to. Could he have ingested some of the pesticides?

I also noticed that his paw pads were a bit hot and he didn't move much from his spot. He gave me a growl when I was checking up on him and was feeling his paws.

Now he's sleeping. Breathing regularly and his trembling seems to have stopped. Was he just scared or is this something serious? My dad might not have the money to take him to the vet and my cat is terrified of going outside. What am I to do?

Hi,

I think the trembling is more likely due to pesticide exposure than fear. If so, this can be very serious indeed.

Please talk to your Dad about taking your cat in. If this is a poisoning there is nothing you can do at home that will help. Most vets are willing to set up a payment plan for clients that cannot pay their entire bill at once.

Please keep us updated.

Uh... what if he's been acting fine since the nights been over. He's been back to his old self and acting the way he used to. What does that mean?

Hi,

Hopefully this means that your cat is going to be ok. However, if you notice the symptoms again, please contact a vet immediately. No matter what the cause, trembling is often something to be very concerned about. It can indicate a neurological problem.

I would not allow your cat to be exposed to pesticides in the future. Unless, of course you need something for flea control, which you would need to get through a vet to be safe.

Thanks for the update and I'm glad your kitty is better!
