I have a 4month old kitten who just loves my lip balm. If I open the tin while he's in the room (even the other side of the room), he'll come running to me and jump on my lap to try to get to it.

The lip balm is Burts Bees and has a peppermint type smell to it, and since I need to apply it with my fingers, he ends up licking my finger once I have it all on my lips. He'll sometimes attack me in the most friendly way to try to get to my fingers! We just laugh about it, but I'm wondering why is it that he likes it so much?

Sometimes cats like the strangest things! I have one that loves my minty toothpaste and would eat it from the tube if I let her. She also likes it when I am chewing any kind of mint flavored gum and gets in my face! I have heard of other cats liking mint.......and I believe that catnip is related to mint somehow. Perhaps that is the answer to the mint mystery.

Another one of my cats likes my contact lens solution.....it's kind of salty so that may be the attraction there.
