ok so heres the thing we have a 1 year old calico cat named freshy (its very fitting for her!) she does alot of strange things but by far the strangest is she bites her claws off on her one paw only. i dont know/understand why she would do this.. does anyone have insite on this?

I don't think that Freshy is actually biting her claws off. When a cat scratches on something, there are often "splinters" (similar to our hangnails) that are left that seem to be annoying to the cat. I have noticed some of my cats biting off these parts of their claws, never actually the claw itself. This is normal behavior, although I have to admit it looks pretty strange!

Freshy is beautiful, BTW! I just adore calicos despite their attitude and had a wonderful dilute calico for 19 years

she hardly scratches things, we were sitting here one night and she laid down on the floor in front of us and was literally biting her claws off haha! so i have no clue what her deal is!

thank you she is a very beautiful lil girl! (pain in my butt but beautiful!)

No offense, but sometimes calicos do the strangest things! I had one that would seem to be chewing when there was nothing in her mouth to chew on......perhaps it was her way of telling me that she was hungry! This cat would also vomit about 15 seconds before an earthquake hit.

So, maybe it's just a calico thing your baby is doing.......lol

They are wonderful cats, though, aren't they? Even though we may not totally understand them.
