How do I tell?......

GeckGirl Aug 17, 2003 10:27 PM

I just discovered a stray female tabby that has been haning around my house. She is extremely friendly. She is not spayed, but I don't think she is pregnant. I can't tell.
Do cats have teat "sacs" like dogs do?....full areas around the actual teat? I don't know how to tell if she is nursing or not. I would like to get her spayed. Thanks for any info.

Usually nursing cats do have promenent nipples, but not as much as dogs. Also pregnant cats will have slightly larger nipples. The best bet would be to take the cat to the vet and see if she could be nursing or pregnant and then decide whether or not to spay. If she is nursing young ones, then you'll probably have to return her home without the spay for the time being. A vet should be able to guide you in this.

Good luck and thanks for wanting to help this cat!
