Multiple Snakes

maxwells Feb 08, 2003 02:33 PM

Hello, all.
I have one female juvinle Ball Python (Abigail)in a 4'x2'x2' custom built enclosure. She seems pretty happy in her digs, and no issues have cropped up. Eats, hides, cruises around. Happy Happy.

Now, here's my question... Can I get another snake in the same enclosure? I have read up an most of the FAQ sites, and gone over my BP Manual I bought before I got Abigail, but no metion of "roommates". Is this taboo with snakes in *any* sized encloser?
Thanks, all...
Jenn

It's definately a no-no with mixing different species. Putting two of the same kind of snake together can work sometime if you have enough hides and basking spots, but sometimes this will lead to increased stress and one snake will stop eating. The snakes are probably just as happy or happier alone.

Thanks, all, for the replies...
As it stands right now, I only have eyes for the ball python. No mixing species in my house. Cheers!

as long as they are roughly the same size its not a prob, i have 3 '02 bp's that stay in the same enclosure

but you should make sure there are as many hides as there are snakes...

I have multiple BPs in a roomy enclosure, and they get along great. In fact, they really seem to miss each other when they are separated, and are happy to greet each other when they return. I just make sure I feed in separate enclosures, and they have plenty of hides, although they usually prfer to share.
