I have an adult tabby who loves milk and cream but get diarreah from it. I have seen the milk substitutes for cats in the supermarket and was wondering what is and if it is really ok to give to your animal. I feel so sorry for her. She sits on the counter by me every morning while I am getting my coffee just hoping that I will give her a little half and half and always looks so disappointed when none comes her way.
thanks
Judy

ok, maybe I will be a little out of line by saying this. Regardless...if you ate something that gave you diarrhea, even if you thought is was really yummy, would you still eat it? Probably not. I didn't think that adult cats could correctly digest milk anyways.

The problem with most cats is that they are lactose intolerant which causes the diarreah. The special kitty "milk" products are made with this in mind and are not harmful for the majority of cats, although care needs to be taken that the cat doesn't get so much that she won't eat her healthy food. Give it a shot and see how she does.
