bad knotts - HELP !!!

my ex girlfriend let me have my cat - which is great -
its been a year since i have seen the cat - and it seems she wasnt taking care of the cat.

the cat has some big knotts all on the lower part of her back and seem to be spreading - im wondering what i can do to prevent and treat this ?

please help

The knots you are talking about sound like mats. They are extremely difficult to remove.

Since the cat hasn't been cared for for a long time, a vet check is in order anyway just to be sure the cat is OK. At this time you can have the vet look at the mats and perhaps have a vet tech or on-site groomer deal with them for you.
