search for other method!?

My kitten,Moogie, is 7 months old and I wanted to know if there is anything else I could do other than to spay her. What I mean is, are there any shots or pills that can be given? The reason for this question is that I have had other female cats spayed and I find that they have a tendency to get a slack belly or to get fat afterwards and I would like to avoid this if possible.

Thanks in advance, Shella

What a precious baby! To my knowlege there are no alternative forms of birth control for cats other than spay/neuter. I have read of some experimental pills, but so far I guess they haven't been proven to work or to be safe.

If you live within driving distance of a veterinary school, you might try giving them a call and asking them what they know.

The advantage to spaying is that in addition to preventing unwanted kittens and unwanted heat-related behaviors removing the uterus and ovaries prevents certain types of cancer including mammary cancer. A small pouch is a small price to pay for this safety net. And not all cats get them. I had a female who kept her "abs of steel."

Thank you for your response. And after all I think I will get her spayed, you raised good points to why I should get her operated and I wouldn't like her to get cancer so I think I will as soon as I can. And again thank you.
