Cooked Corn Safe?

bobzoo Oct 28, 2003 08:07 PM

I have two cats that love leftover cooked corn. Our first cat surprised me a couple of years ago with this behavior, and now our recently added kitten seems to like the stuff as well. Are there any health problems with them eating this? Thanks!

Cooked corn is safe for cats, but not the best thing in the world for them to eat. Treat them to it very sparingly.

when my older cat was younger, both he and his brother loved cooked corn. We tried to keep it away from them because even just a tablespoon of it caused major gastric distress and resulted in diarrhea. So they had to watch from afar while we ate corn on the cob

If your cats deal with it in terms of their intestines, I'd let them have a tablespoon occasionally. If it doesn't bother them it is certainly better than many other items you could give them.
