catlover1225 Jun 25, 2004 04:58 PM

I just found out my kitten 11 weeks has cat leukemia. he just got hit by a car not a week a go. ( in ask holistic vet "kitten hit by car and won't eat) I don't know yet if he passed it on to my big cat ( 3 yrs) i will find out at about five thirty when my mom comes home. If they both have it can i keep them together untill they pass. But i hope to god it is just a mistake. Please anything anybody can tell me about the killer. Or anything i can. Or anything you just want to say please tell me. Thanks.

This site is fairly heavy-duty reading, but it has a lot of excellent information for you.

Feline Leukemia might not be as contageous as they once feared. If the kitten has it and the cat doesn't then you will have some decision-making to do. If both cats have it then it is probably OK to let them be together, however your vet will be the best guide for this.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm so sorry!

Thank god my 3 yr old didn't get it, but we had to give him away. I cry every time i think about him. I miss him so bad. But he is in a house with a very nice older couple. They have 12 (includin stipers) leukemia cats. All very nice to eachother. He is doin ok for now. But i still miss him. OH and he did recover from the car accident. Thanks for the help guys.

when i said "we had to give him away" i meant stripers not 3 yr old (Dixie). I just wanted to clear that up.

Yes I realized after reading your post you meant the kitten was given away. How is the kitten doing?
Did you adopt another kitten?
post some picture of Dixie if you have any.

I am glad the kitten recovered from the car accident and is in a good home. I can imagine how much you must miss Stripers though.

Thank you for the update! I hope Dixie is doing OK.

You have to upload the pictures to the PH Photo Gallery. It's fairly easy to do - go to the Photo Gallery link and then follow the directions for uploading. Then when you post to the board you will get an option to add an image from the photo gallery - you just click and choose. It's a pretty neat feature! And you have scads of space! They just gave everyone a whole lot more storage capacity. It's free and great!
