i know there are a ton of these but i have a rather interesting situation. My female cat is about a year old, and we have just recently gotten a male kitten. The male is now about 3 months old. They mated. Is it possible for my three month old cat to have gotten my 1 yr old cat pregnant??

signs: kai (the female) is acting strange, wants everybody to hold and pet her one second and the next she bites you. she appears uncomfortable and moves around alot, trying to find a place where she can be comfortable. Also, gizmo (the male) is being extremly protective of her and he watches her all day long.

i'd really appreciate any help you can give!!

A young kitten could produce enough sperm to impregnate a female and if he went through the motions then he's probably sexually mature. The odds are that your female could be pregnant. She is exhibiting signs of being in heat, so maybe something didn't take this time, but it will soon. She should be spayed ASAP or separated from the kitten until he is neutered.

Whether or not the cats have actually mated, please have the female spayed ASAP. For every heat cycle she goes through, the chances that she will develop mammary cancer are increased. A cat that is spayed before ever coming into heat will almost never develop mammary cancer.

The male is old enough to be neutered as well, as long as he weighs at least 2 pounds.
