Hi everyone!
I'm new here and I think I should have joined a lot earlier. =) I have two cats (and countless other animals) so this is a good place for me.
Well as I said above I have two cats. We were told there were both female when we got them about about a week or two ago we realized that one of them was male. They're both about 10 months old now so I'm a bit ashamed that I didn't even know the sex of my own cat. My problem is, Kaya (our female cat) seems like she's pregnant but I'm not excatly sure. So I'm going to tell you what I've noticed lately and maybe someone can tell me how far a long she is.
- she hasn't been crying at the door so much (they're indoor cats)
- Yuki (the boy) hasn't tried to have sex with her in a long time
- she's getting chubby but her belly seems more firm than fat.
- Her nipples are larger and around the part that sticks out is a darker pink that Yuki's
- She eating more and she's more loving (she'll stay up with me which is amazing because she only likes my boyfriend)
- She's playing more roughly with Yuki these past couple of days than she ever has.

Any help you can give me would be great. I've read up on pregnant cats but I'm worried that I just want her to be pregnant and so I built it up in my mind.
Thanks so much!

Oh and I forgot to ask... what do kittens feel like when they move in the belly? Because i've had my hand on her stomach and felt like someone ran a finger across my hand? Is that babies or gas?

If your girl kitty has mated with the boy then she's very definitely pregnant. Her symptoms sound as if she is. Please get her to a vet to confirm this and to be sure everything is OK.

It would be best to get her spayed after this litter. Since the "father" seems to be her brother this could lead to major genetic defects in the offspring.

Hi There,

Welcome to the board!

Thanks for taking in these 2 precious babies. I have mixed feelings about the kittens though, especially in a brother-sister breeding.

It sounds like the pregnancy is fairly advanced, otherwise I would recommend spaying. Hopefully the babies will be healthy and you can place them, then have the mom spayed. You definitely don't want to let her have another litter. The male should be neutered also. They will both be healthier and happier after the surgery, plus you don't have to worry as much about mammary cancer or about uterine infections at all. An intact male will almost always spray and his urine will be very strong-smelling.

Regards,

Thanks everyone.
Don't worry we are getting them spayed right after she has the kittens.
I think she's going to have them within two weeks now. And I think it's only one sooo... me and my boyfriend decided that if she has one kitten were going to keep it cause we don't want to seperate them. (plus I'm a sucker for cats and am going to get very attached) But if it's two then we're going to give them away. Hopefully to my boyfriends mom but we're not sure. We do know that we are giving them away together, we refuse to seperate them, since we didn't seperate our cats.
I will let you all know when they arrive.
