My new Himalayan

PetzGirl May 16, 2006 06:11 AM

My Himalalyan which was previouysly my sisters cat doesnt like been groomed...he doesn`t mind being petted or picked up or brushed on his back but as soon as I go to do his sides, belly.tail or butt and private places he makes a growling noise and walks away and so I dont tamper with him but the reason it is such a big deal is because my sister never use to brush him and so he isn`t used to the feel of it in those places....he is a beautiful cat and he is 3 years old and we only got him 3 days ago and he is still getting used to the dog as she is larger than the pug he used toi live with...anyways i really need some advice on getting to be able to groom out the matts and not have him scratch me....I have tried to do step by step touching for a few seconds but it wont work for a long time and i really need to be able to brush him A.S.A.P so yeh i would really appreciate any advice, thanks in advance.

Hi,

It sounds to me that this may be beyond your being able to groom your kitty on your own. She may have to be shaved down by a vet or a groomer.

Some cats are just plain impossible to groom. My Timothy is one of them and I have shaved him down a couple of times when he was matted.

Whatever you decide, please don't try to cut out the mats on your own. It is very easy to cut a cat that way.
