what does "het" mean?

het stands for heterozygous which means that the animal is the carrier of a trait but does not express it meaning the trait is not dominant. so the point in buying a het which is more money then something that it llooks the exact same as is because if you cross two hets they 25% of their offspring will have the rare trait. i don't know how good your genetics are but the best way to explain it that i can think of is when two brown hair parents have a kid with blond hair. i hope i didn't get into too much detail and that what i said helped you out.
