My 15 year old cat is not eating...

fluffycat Oct 24, 2003 02:33 PM

To begin with...my cat is 15 years old and was diagnosed with feline lukemia over 5 years ago. For probably about 4 days or so she has gradually eaten less, and hasnt really had anything to eat or drink for maybe 2 days. I did have to babysit a small dog for 2 days, and they were okay. Not the best of friends, but they stayed away from each other, no hissing, or barking. My cat just kind of kept her eye on him all the time. Even when I try to give her milk, she kind of acts excited, but then just turns it down. I have got her to eat some wet food, and some turkey meat though. Could this be from the feline lukemia? She has NEVER shown any signs of bad health. She still runs around. I'm going to try to get her in tomorrow(sat.) to the vet. I dont want to have to go there, pay probably hundreds of dollars for them to just say shes about to die, or something to that matter. Any ideas? Thanks.

I think you are wise in getting the cat to the vet. The fact that she is hungry but not eating is more indicative of some sort of intestinal disturbance, like a blockage or hairball, than the Leukemia. But only a vet can really check it out and let you know for sure. It also could be stress induced. Be sure to tell the vet everything you've posted on this board.

Good luck! Let us know what the vet says!
