My Cat Has Anorexia?

Lillerzz Apr 16, 2004 10:11 AM

Hi ....was wondering if anyone knew why my cat , Maggie only eats about 6 tidbits a day, she is full grown, adult, age 3 years. Her current weight is 5 pounds. She has always been very thin,it seems to bother us more than her. I would like to know if there is a suppliment for her to take, to increase her appitite. She is very healthy otherwise. Please help if you can.

Has Maggie been examined by a vet? This should be your first thing to do. I am amazed that she could survive on so little food. Five pounds is also very tiny for an adult cat, although some small-framed cats don't weigh a lot more than that.

Maggie may have a food allergy. You might want to talk to the vet about special food for her.

Best wishes to Maggie. Let us know what the vet says.

Thank you for your quick response! I will have her checked, she is acually my grandkitty, so I had been waiting on my Son to do this for her. Otherwise , Maggie does seem healthy, she is an indoor Cat...plays alot , her coat is nice and shiney, her eyes are bright. I had not thought of a food allergy , will surely check on this. Thank you again PHMadameAlto
