cat not eating

dianemorgan Apr 25, 2006 05:32 PM

My cat is three years old. Three days ago she threw up a little.
She did that again yesterday and today. She is not eating her food. She has always been very healty and playful. She's still playful, but I'm worried. She's been spayed. She's had all her shots. She gets them in August. Do I need to go to the vet?

Hi There,

Yes, you need to take your cat in. Please don't wait any longer since cats that stop eating can start developing fatty liver disease within a few days. This is a very serious condition.

Your vet will most likely want to have a blood panel done and possibly x-rays. An appetite stimulent may be tried, but some kind of force-feeding will be necessary to prevent further problems if your baby still doesn't eat. She is probably dehydrated by now and that can cause it's own problems.

Please let us know what the vet says.

Just to let anyone know. I'm glad I took her in. She had swallowed a scrucnchy (rubber band for hair), and to the
tune of a lot, they are operating on her, but she will be
o.k.I would have been so upset if something had
happened to her. Thanks for the advice.
