Help please. Baby Pumpkin is not eating

Dawnjoennikki98 Sep 05, 2006 10:54 PM

And he is not drinking...He is about 6 months old, and was neutered 5 days ago. The first two and a half days he was his same old self, ate the small amounts I gave him (as the vet advised) and wanted more, drank fine, even played normal. Since yesterday he has been mostly sleeping, and I am noticing now that he has not eaten or drank any of is food or water today! normally he goes through 2 or 3 bowls of water, and since yesterday, still full water bowl. didn't eat his dry food (his fave) or any of he wet food. Didn't even lick off the juice! So, I will call the vet in the morning, but I'm worried now...How long does it take for a kitty to become dehydrated? He looks much thinner just in the last two days! no belly, just looks very drawn if that's the word. I wish I had noticed the extent of all this earlier when the vet was open. He's sleeping now still. Thanks for any help!

Hi There,

I hope that by now you have called the vet and gotten Pumpkin in for an exam. A cat can become dehydrated pretty quickly, especially when they are not eating or drinking at all.

Please try giving Pumpkin some strained meat baby food (without onion added) if he is at home and still not eating. Often cats will eat baby food before they will eat anything else.

I know how scary it is when a cat won't eat or drink. Pumkin will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Please let us know how he is doing.

Regards,
PHKitkat
