12-14 yr old cat spitting up blood

ChestersMom Nov 23, 2006 08:09 PM

My 12-14 yr old cat stopped eating today. He drinks alot of water but about 20 minutes later he vomits it up along with alot of spit. The last two times today the vomit had a pink to light red tint to it. It's like he has to cough up a hairball but all that comes out is liquid and nothing else.

I don't know what to do for him. Help!

Hi There,

This sounds like something that can be very serious. The best thing you can do for your cat is make an appointment and have him examined by a vet.

Labwork needs to be done, as well as x-rays, and possibly a urinalysis. Senior cats are prone to several medical problems, many of which are treatable if diagnosed early.

I wouldn't wait. If you cannot get your kitty in today or tomorrow, it might be a good idea to take him to an ER over the weekend.

Please keep us updated.

Regards,
PHKitkat
