Eating habits changing

orangegrl Nov 12, 2007 09:46 PM

I have a 6 year old cat who has suddenly started eating wet food voraciously and way too fast. I have 2 cats, but competition never seemed to be an issue. After eating too fast, she occasionally vomits her food back up partially digested (or even barely digested). Also, I can hear her stomach gurgling every time she eats. Please help! Is this urgent enough to take her to the vet or do I just need to cut back on her wet food.

Hi There,

I do feel that this is serious enough to warrant a vet visit. Your kitty should have an exam and at least a blood panel done to try and determine the cause of the vomiting.

Please take your baby in and let us know how it goes.

Ok, thank you. Do you think this could be a result of her needing a teeth cleaning? The last time I took her in (just a couple months ago) they said she needed this done. I have not done it yet due to finances and the cost of a professioal clearning. Could a tooth issue also cause stomach problems?

Hello,

This does not sound like a dental issue to me. If the teeth are bad, though, you should consider having a dental done when you can afford it.
