skin Irritations?

Topaz Jan 24, 2004 04:09 PM

My cat has small scab areas around her back and tail. I know the cause is fleas, because she only gets this when the fleas are here, and she scratches herself alot, and cat flea medicine seems to help real well. Is there anything else I can do to help the scabs go away? Are anitbiotics ok for open scabs? (like Hydrogen Proxcide or Neosporin?) Thank you all so much.

Have you thought about using frontline or advantage?
I hope you are able to get the scabs healed soon. Here is the web address of the cheapest place I found online so far.

Since it seems to be fleas, then you'll probably need to just dose her regularly with either Frontline or Advantage to keep the fleas at bay and to prevent the scratching and scabs.

My vet has told me to use Neosporin on occasion, however with ANY medication you should contact your vet to be sure it is safe for your particular cat. Your vet will know what is best in this situation - probably a phone call will be all you need to make - saving yourself and the cat a trip to the vet!
