help - rabies shots

mahadeen Feb 10, 2004 10:32 AM

My kittens had their third set of shots (rabies) yesterday. since then they have been sleeping with little energy. They have been up to follow a ball but aren't chasing it as they usually do. The purr but dont seem to be eating or drinking yet. I did see one use the litter this morning.
Is this normal? The vet says they can be like this for up to 2 days, but I thought I would check with you guys to see if you have anything to add.
They are female, siamese, 6 mos.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I now know that what they are going through is a possible side effect and they should be better in a day or two. I am wondering, however, if it is possible that this vet gave them too much of the serum. The internet info re: side-effects says that "some individuals" might react. In this case it is two sisters. I have scheduled to have them fixed by this vet. Should I reconsider? I am starting to think I should
Any comments would be appreciated.
A little worried in Toronto

I see you've already gotten some excellent advice from Dr. Tobin on the Ask the Holistic Vet board, so I won't try to add to his expertise, just wish you and the kittens the very best and hope that they will be up and running about soon!

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
