Sore infested Cat

miragesmom Mar 31, 2004 10:27 AM

One of my b/f's brothers had let my indoor kitty outside (and didn't tell me so she ended up outside over night). I had noticed a cut by her ear and thought nothing of it (must have scratched it somehow, no biggie). A couple of days later she had some small, round sores forming on her belly. A little concerned I decided to keep an eye on it. Next day belly was raw looking with more sores, now larger one on inside of hind leg, one on side, and a couple on her back. She hasn't been scratching or biting herself, has been pottying OK, and is still as playful as ever. I did notice that she hasn't been eating as much of her dinner as normal, but eating breakfast fine. Any ideas?? I thought at first she may have got bit by some insect on her belly (looked similar to a rash), but it's spreading.

Sort of sounds like ringworm (which is a fungus). I would call your vet for an appointment. They will give you meds to get rid of it if that is what it is.

There are several things this could be ranging from fleas and a allergic reaction to them, or maybe ringworm or some other fungus. Kitty needs a vet check to determine the cause and to get the best possible cure. Good luck!
