cat with sarcoma

nb May 20, 2004 09:50 AM

A coworker 's 11 year old cat was recently diagnosed with cancer, I assume a lymphosarcoma. An xray showed an intestinal tumor and clinically he has had a 6 pound weight loss, constipation etc. Does anyone know a correlation between a lifelong history of exposure to cigarette smoke or a cat bite, which occured 2-3 years ago which may have caused FEV. Isn't there a correlation between FEV and cancer in cats?

I am not exactly sure what FEV is - I can't seem to find anything that makes sense on the web.

I don't know if there has been a study done about the incidence in cancer among cats who have been in second-hand smoke, but it stands to reason that it could be higher, given the documented problems humans have in the same environment.
