First time having a cat and I don't know what in the world this is. There is a small blackish thing in Lily's left nostril and I had just noticed it today. It seems to be stuck there pretty well and I just need advice on how to get it off. I tried picking at it but she always turns her head and she won't let me touch it. Any advice?

Laughing sorry I can't help it. It's a booger. Pick it out.

Lily is sure a beautiful cat. For some reason I thought you had a kitten. Where did you get her again?

She is really cute. Thank you for rescuing another fur baby from a shelter. I have been watching the shelters in Maine and they have been getting a lot of animals in from other states. I guess our adoption rate is high or our intake is low.

Is the blackish thing still there or did you try to remove it as Jaimie suggested? It is more than likely a booger that has been discolored with dust and dirt. You could probably get it off with a damp washcloth and some rubbing. However, I would take her to the vet if you have not been able to remove it just in case it is something more serious or painful.

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!

I agree -- if you can't pick it off (it might hurt a bit!) try a wet washcloth. It may even be food. My kitten's a sloppy eater, and she gets crusties in her nose. She screams when I pick them off, so I use a warm washcloth and it works just fine.

Pretty kitty, by the way!
