The vet says that Myrtle has alot of tarter on her teeth, they said that they make hard crunchy treats, but don't remember what they're called. I suppose I could brush her teeth once a week with kitty toothpaste, what do you guys do for tarter on you cat's teeth? I can't afford a dentist, so I'm gonna have to do it myself

If the tartar is too bad, she will probably need her teeth cleaned down the line. Bad tartar can cause gum disease and even heart disease.

There are tartar control treats you can give. Some people are able to brush their cats' teeth with a special brush and toothpaste. You can read a bit more on this at drsfostersmith.com I think.

Daisy has bad gums (the teeth are alright though). I try to brush her teet at least a couple of times per week. It seems to keep the inflammation under control. The fact that my cats only eat dry food may also help.
A few months ago I thought of her having a dental cleaning. The vet said it was not necessary (yet). So I'm sticking with kitty toothpaste.
BTW my cats prefer chicken flavor. They didn't care for beef or malt flavor. Also, it takes a while to get them accustomed but you have to be patient.
And, It's NOT a bad idea to start brushing the babies' teeth too (even if they still have their milk teeth). Just try to be gentle, since Mina and April are about to start teething.
