Lucky again!

Kittybaby_04 Sep 23, 2004 08:56 AM

He seems to have a cold or an upper respritory(sp?) infection. His breathing sounds funny......how do i tell if it's just a cold or something more? Right now i don't have the money to bring him to the vet. We are most likely getting ready to move if we can get ahold of our landlord. But please help me tell the difference between a cold or something more.

If Lucky seems to be eating, drinking and using the litterbox OK then perhaps the condition is only temporary. However, if Lucky seems to be in severe respsiratory distress (panting rapidly) or lacks energy, appetite and exhibits "hiding" behaviors then the condition is serious enough to warrant a vet visit ASAP. Also if the congestion seems to last longer than three days, it's time for a vet visit.

Even if money is short, sometimes it is in the best interest of both your cat and your pocketbook to get to the vet promptly. Many conditions cost a lot less to treat if caught early.

Oh he seems to be doing everything normally to me, he goes outside and runs aroubd chasing this like crazy, he is in all night long, eats throughout the day, comes in 3-4 times a day to eat, drinks like he should, and uses the liter box like he should.

And if he does have an URI then he can pass it on to all the other cats. Maybe a call to the vet. They can give you some advice over the phone for free.
