Swollen Nipple (male cat)

abukuchick Oct 21, 2004 10:24 PM

Lately (the past few weeks) I've noticed that Bubba has one swollen nipple. It's one of the last ones in the row of nipples. It's about 3x's the size of his other normal nipples and has rough skin on it. It also looks like it has been chewed at the bottom because it's thinner there. Today it was slightly red and he doesn't seem to mind when I squeeze it a little. The vet hasn't seen it but when I told her about it she said that Kola may be sucking on it making it larger and hurting the skin a little. Has anyone else experienced this with a male kitty? He is 2.5 years old and was neutered at about 4 months old. I'm going to see if I can get him in with Kola tomorrow for a quick look (i'm sure he'll be SO embarassed showing his nipples to the whole world!) but incase they can't I was wondering if this sounded serious or just cosmetic. I'll try to take a picture of it sometime, that'll be a fun task! Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I took BUbba to the vet along with Kola and they said it's nothing to worry about but they were glad I brought him in because some people disregard things like this and they end up being serious.

Glad to know all went well at the vet with Bubba! You are right that a swollen nipple on a cat should be checked ASAP.
