Ryan, I would not suggest a bath just to remove odor from your uro. Bathing increases stress levels and can do more harm than good. Soaking may be of benefit in certain situations such as dehydration. Never use soap.
Keep the enclosure as clean as possible and this will reduce odor on your uro. What type of substrate are you using?

I notice that my uros only smell when they are wet. Are you making sure their enclosure is dry? Also my female once smelled a bit because the male defecated on her because he got scared. The residue was on the top of the tail and was barely visible, but smelled.

Note that soaking your uros is good to keep them clean, but has certain things to keep in mind. Use hot water, avoid running water, bath once a week max, and dry them extra thoroughly, preferably with paper towels. Over time, they will not freak out any more at bathtime and may even grow to enjoy it, probably because the hot water feels nice and toasty.

Hi,

This forum recommended to give my mali a soak (about 100deg hot water) and it helped with the smell. The vet also recommended a soak once a week for about 10 minutes (usually my mali cannot stand it that long). He puffs up so big. Someone suggest before that the tail must be dried off real good. Another person suggest using a hairdryer if the uro would stand for it. Mine loves it.

Our male Mali takes on the distinct smell of wet socks after we have misted him a bit to help with shedding. It passes in a few days.
