stud tail

nab219 Aug 03, 2005 10:13 PM

I recently had my neutered male 3 yr old Persian cats teeth cleaned along with a lion cut while under sedation. The vet said he had a stud tail and that I should wipe his tail with alcohol or peroxide. I never saw any problems with his tail, Does anyone know anything about this stud tail??

I had never heard of this condition either until I googled it. It sounds like more a condition of the skin around the tail than a problem with the tail itself.

Here are a few links for you:

I hope this reading helps you!

Hi,

MadameAlto provided some excellent sites regarding this condition.

In the cat hospital where I work, we have found that Dawn dish soap does an excellent job of cleaning up the greasiness of stud tail. If you try this, please use very little soap, and be sure to rinse very well.
